ALBION – Lovejoy Health Center is pleased to announce the completion of its expansion project and will celebrate by holding an open house on Sunday, February 25 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The event will be open to the public as a meet and greet with staff and board members of the health center on hand.  Light refreshments will be offered. 

In March of 2017, construction crews began a long-awaited expansion of the health center, providing additional office space, exam rooms, a centralized nurse station, additional storage space, and a new front entrance which includes an accessibility lift.  

“We have weathered three prior expansions over the years,” shared Dr. Forrest West, “so we knew how to anticipate the challenge of seeing patients during construction and the team did so with good humor!”

Lovejoy Health Center first opened its doors in 1978 with two doctors (one of whom was Dr. Forrest West), a small staff and a mission to serve the health needs of the people of Albion and surrounding communities.  The center has since been expanded multiple times and has seen many changes.

“We have so many services now that we didn’t have before,” said Dr. West.  “The expansion allows our Care Manager, Connector and Behavioral Health Consultant to meet with patients on our main floor rather than the lower level. Our nurses now work together and coordinate in the same centralized room, and the new and improved entrance gives our patients greater accessibility to our practice.  It is a very exciting expansion.”

Today, nine providers and a staff of more than 30 people provide care to over 4,000 patients from Albion, China, Freedom, Palermo, Thorndike, Troy, Unity, and other surrounding communities.  Services have expanded to include chronic care management, behavioral health, podiatry, and more.
