Madison Area Health Center Welcomes New Provider

MADISON – Melissa Covenant, family nurse practitioner, will be joining the provider staff at Madison Area Health Center this fall. Melissa has worked in community health as a nurse practitioner for 3 years and in the acute care setting as a registered nurse for 11 years. She obtained her undergraduate nursing degree in 2008 at Washington State University and completed the MSN Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Gonzaga University, WA in 2013. Her areas of expertise include women's health, integrative medicine, and chronic disease management.

Melissa recently shared her thoughts on coming to Maine: “I chose to join Madison Area Health Center because it encompasses much of what I consider to be an ideal practice. The staff respect their community and are clearly committed to the work they do.” She continued, “Growing up without health insurance for most of my childhood has motivated me to help others with barriers to accessing medical care. I enjoy working as a primary care provider in a community health setting where I can help families who face social, economic and health disparities access quality health care.”

Melissa will be joining Dr. Nancy Knapp and family nurse practitioners, JoHanna Davis and Jeanne Stokes. In addition, Danna Lee provides behavioral health services. The health center provides care to 2,045 residents of Madison, Anson, Norridgewock, Starks and neighboring towns.
